The ecosystem for modular production is growing
Abstract
Under the motto “Process Industry: Future Production is Modular & Open”, automation and plant manufacturers such as ABB, Copa-Data, Emerson, Endress+Hauser, Festo, Hans Turck, Hima, Knick, Krohne, Pepperl + Fuchs, Phoenix Contact, R. Stahl, Samson, Schneider Electric, Semodia, Siemens, Wago and Yokogawa, universities (TU Dresden, Uni Hamburg, TU Ingolstadt, Fraunhofer IFF) as well as users such as BASF, Bayer, Covestro, Evonik, Colorants and Dow, what is currently possible in modular production.
The focus was on the core technology of modular automation: the Module Type Package (MTP), which gives individual modules a digital description.
